Okay, so if you've read my bio you know I'm a Billboard recording artist, and what that means is I rarely worked this end of the business, the behind the scenes end of things. I am a singer, songwriter and now I am a manager, promoter, web designer, screenplay writer, producer, the list goes on and on and on and it doesn't stop. I have been overwhelmed with the amount of things I have had to do, and have to do., mainly this website. I have designed this thing from scratch and I am not a web designer, so if you see anything that needs to be fixed, holla at ya sista so I can fix it.
I'm constantly thinking of what my next steps should be to get my song out there, and God put it in my spirit to take out a commercial ad! I figured if I couldn't get anyone to play my song on national radio, or even get radio stations to listen to it, I would pay for a commercial and get some play through promotion. I'm beginning to realize that many people do not understand how radio works. You would think it would be easy right? Wrong! It cost money to get on radio...yup.. mucho dinero! You can have the hottest, bestest (yes, it is not a word) song ever and no one will care unless you know the right people or your bank account is looking right. That's just the bottom line. It's sad because there are sooooooo many talented people out here that will never be heard. Look at Lisa Fisher! That woman can sang and her career still never went where her voice should have taken her. Okay, that just made me a little depressed...
I am advertising my song, I JUST CAN'T DO IT, on The Light 103.9 FM. This is really an awesome gospel radio station in the Raleigh, NC triangle. I like the work they do within the community. I had Jerry Smith record the commercial for me and he did an awesome job! Thank you Jerry! He's also the stations programming director and I am praying to God that he "listened" to my song and did not just record the commercial. To Jerry...I was using the back door entrance approach...lol I figured if you recorded it, you may actually listen to it, and then you may actually play it...
If you want to hear the song on your local station...call them and tell them! This is another old school approach...if enough people ask, they will consider playing it...
I'm just sayin'
