Taborah is an accomplished song writer and vocalist and has received a notable amount of success on the Billboard dance charts with such songs as “Ride on the Rhythm”, “My Love for You”, “I’ve Got To Have You”, “I Am”, “All I Gave To You” and many others.
Born Taborah Adams in Long Island, New York, Taborah began her talents at age 4 as she studied dance at the Venettes Cultural Workshop in Wyandanch, New York. Taborah attended the workshop for 14 years, during which time she also took charm class and a few voice lessons. Taborah was introduced to a variety of music and displayed her love for it and her vocal talents at an early age. Her grandmother played piano and sang for the USO Troops and her father sang and traveled internationally with the acclaimed Fisk Jubilee Singers.
Taborah's first recordings were with long time friend Karen DeRosa. These recordings were recognized by Antonio Verde of ACV Music and Taborah was chosen to become the songwriter, face and voice of the ever famous group Blackwood. She signed with the Italian label and released three albums. Blackwood consisted of Antonio, Marascia and Kortezman Sandro Murro. Blackwood’s debut album “Ride on the Rhythm” was released in 1992. The album featured the single “All I Gave To You”. The group continued to release singles as they developed their style. In 1996 Blackwood re-released “Ride on the Rhythm” as a single and it charted #1 in Billboards Hits of the World for 12 weeks. Taborah quickly recorded the group’s second album “In The City”, which was a mixture of soul and pop music and a video for “Ride on the Rhythm” that allowed the association of Taborah as the face of Blackwood. Blackwood was well respected and admired in the dance community. Production and remixes included Fabio Parisella and Alex Natale. Taborah toured Italy heavily as she was interviewing and appearing on many television and radio shows. Blackwood received the coveted FIMI Best Dance Act Award.
In 1997 Blackwood released their third album “I Am”, which included the single “My Love for You”. Again this single also charted to #1 and Taborah, although pregnant continued touring heavily. She taped her second video “My Love For You” while she was in her seventh month of pregnancy and stopped touring in her eighth. Italy knew Taborah as the face of Blackwood, but she continued to write singles that lead the group to success. Taborah was invited to perform in such places as the San Remo Festival. Remixes for “My Love For You” included Stefano Noferini.
Blackwood’s third single “I Am” was released and distributed by BMG Italy Ricordi.
Taborah returned to Italy after giving birth and toured for seven weeks. The single again achieved charting success, but Taborah was no longer affiliated with the group Blackwood. The singles that Taborah wrote while with Blackwood have been licensed in over 53 countries.
After her tour Taborah decided to take a break from performing, but she continued to write songs. She opened a country home and antique store and received a degree in Interior Design. She volunteered her time regularly to her daughter’s elementary school and to the American Red Cross. When her daughter turned seven she returned to performing.
In 2004, Taborah released her first USA single “I Am” (the rising) on the label Catz Entertainment. The single was the remake of her Italian success “I Am”. Production included Johnny Rocks, with remixes by Friscia and Lamboy, Giuseppe D and Jeff Barringer. The single received heavy club play across the country and landed on Billboard Dance Club Play Chart for 16 weeks where it reached # 5. “I Am” (the rising) also became the 2005 tip-off song for the Women's National Basketball Association, New York Liberty for both home and away games. In November 2006, Taborah was honored with the distinguished ‘Artist of the Year’ award from New York’s Heritage of Pride. ‘I Am’ earned its place as an evergreen. The demand of the record also encouraged features on Television and interviews with radio veteran, Joe Franklin.
Taborah’s follow up single on Catz Entertainment, “All I Gave To You” was yet another Italian success written by Taborah and released in 2006. Productions include Joe Bermudez & Klubjumpers, John Rizzo & Barry Huffine, Giuseppe D, and Josh Harris. This single also received rotation in the clubs and on radio. During this time and even to date Taborah continues to volunteer her talent too many non-profit organizations such as Freedom Writer's Foundation, LifeBeat's Hearts and Voices, LIGALY, Katrina Fundraiser Joe's Big Gay Luau.
In 2008, Taborah took the reins of her career and released her new single “You Gotta Go ‘Cause I’m Through With You”, on her label Lah Lah Music. The remix is by an up and coming young producer from the UK named Reflex. The single received almost instant radio play and the phase “no sit down, I’m not done yet”, has quickly become a favorite attitude one liner. This single has beaten out Miley Cyrus on KNHC's Phat 5. Taborah's third video was released with this single.
Her recent E.P. A Piece of Me showcases her talents and is a combination of music from different genres as it takes you on a musical journey. Taborah's love and passion of music is uniquely displayed, with talented productions from Karen De Rosa, Jason Still and Darren Noble. These songs are destined to become chart toppers as "A Piece of Me" is sure to leave you wanting more.
Always in the studio, Taborah recorded the classic Phyllis Hyman song “You Know How To Love Me“. Richard J. Dalton produced the break beat dance version and Taborah is presently working with Peter McLean on a house remix to be released in 2009. Also the New Year will bring new remixes of Taborah's song “All I Gave To You“ which is being produced by Simon Russo and released under UHM Records in The Netherlands. Taborah will also be releasing a new trance single entitled “Angels Cry at Night“ with production by Skybase out of Croatia.
